This story has played out and I think it is a good idea to examine what happened and why it received the media attention it has. I think there are several reasons, which I will briefly outline:

1. The story had universal appeal - david v goliath
2. The story was a story in that it had a beginning, middle and end (protest/school action/outcome).
3. The media was alerted and kept abreast of what was happening effectively.

I also think that the story exposed several side issues - like our education system, marijuana laws, small town attitudes, etc .

Any thoughts on how this can help us next time?
