School at fault
Published Letter
The Regina Leader-Post
Blaming student Kieran King for the Wawota school walkout is like blaming a prison riot on the prisoners. Students and prisoners are not in control; they react to the actions of the institution's administration.
The walkout and lockdown of the school were all prompted by the incomprehensible actions of school administrators, who first denied Kieran his right to speak about a subject, then accused him of criminal activity, and threatened him with police action if he persisted in his research.
If school administrators were a bit more interested in providing education rather than maintaining the prison yard rules, this situation could have provided a rich educational experience for students at Wawota school.
In my opinion, Wawota school officials deserve an "F" on their report cards for failing to apologize to King and failing to recognize their responsibility in educating, not indoctrinating, our children.

note: I don't know where they got the deputy leader thing. I submitted this without signing it SKMP, but the editor remembered me and asked about my association with the party and was told I was still a VP.
