FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SASKATOON: ‘Prince of Pot’ to visit Saskatoon.
Marc Emery, Canada’s ‘prince of pot’ will visit Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on June 27 – 29, 2007. He will be speaking and entertaining questions at the downtown branch of the Saskatoon Public Library and participating in a marijuana legalization rally across the street at Saskatoon City Hall beginning at 3:00pm.
The event, "Marc Emery Live!", will feature a presentation by Mr. Emery followed by a question period. A Rally and BBQ will be held across the street from the downtown library branch at Saskatoon City Hall directly following the speaking engagement.
Mr. Emery will be speaking about drug policy reform and his fight to remain in Canada. Currently, Marc and two other Canadian activists from Vancouver are facing extradition to the USA for selling cannabis seeds. If extradited, these individuals will likely be incarcerated for life in the USA for a ‘crime’ the Canadian Government refuses to prosecute.
In 2005, Marc was arrested in Saskatoon following a rally in Kiwanis Memorial Park and sentenced to 60 days in jail for passing a joint in public. On his release, Mr. Emery commented on the draconian interpretation of drug laws in our own province.
A recent UN report indicating that Canada has the highest marijuana usage rates among industrialized nations, has brought the legalization debate to everyone’s attention. Supporters and concerned citizens have a wonderful opportunity to meet and hear Canada’s leading legalization activist speak in their hometown.
